  • Fresh lemon juice – To brighten the flavor!
  • Sweetener – If you’d like the jam to be a little sweeter, you can add honey, maple syrup or monk fruit to the jam recipe. 

How to make strawberry chia jam

This recipe could not be easier! There’s not much to it other than heating and mashing strawberries and then stirring several simple ingredients together. Here’s a quick rundown of the process, but for full instructions, reference the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  1. Heat and mash strawberries – Cook the strawberries over medium heat for about 10 minutes. Once the strawberries are a bit liquid-y, use a potato masher or spatula to mash them. You can make them as smooth or as chunky as you like.
  2. Stir in additional ingredients – Once the strawberries are mashed, stir in the chia seeds and lemon juice. Taste and add sweetener as desired.
  3. Let the jam cool and thicken – As the jam cools, it will thicken. Once completely cooled, transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator.
